39 and Magnificent!!

Well, today John celebrated his 39th. Our partyware said 39 and magnificent give and take a few words I can't remember!! Obviously leading up to the big 4-0 next year. We had a great day attending church and celebrating with family. It was relaxing and a welcomed day off from work for John. The boys are finishing the day off with some friendly competition on the Wii with their dad. We are so thankful for our family especially when we have a moment to sit back and cherish a special event in our family. As I listened to the prayers spoken for individuals in our church this morning, it was and is a constant reminder to appreciate every day we have together!! Until next time...

Redefining ordinary items

These three new pictures, though not the best, are an example of what my little boys think tables and dressers are for. CLIMBING!!!! As I heard " Mommy Look!, A bridge" as Preston is going from table to dresser I had to stop and assess our different definitions for these items. As I try to humor our differences, we will be working on safer ways and items to climb on in the upcoming days. I am thinking the park may be a worthwhile trip to take!

Patience is a virtue

Today we went to the beach with our friends the Sacketts. We arrived to a very dark sky, thunder and some lightning. Our first inclination would have been to abandon any hope of success in the outing; however, we waited a bit and had a wonderful beach day. It was cloudy, breezy, dark and refreshingly beautiful. (Don't misunderstand me, I would not want such weather every time but on occasion it was nice) The kids were limited to knee deep activity because of riptides; however, alot of fun was had with a little sand, seaweed, sandfleas and good friends.

A fun Day at the Beach

Pretty Satisfied!!

Well, this will be a double update today which is pretty good for me. But then again it has been a week or so of silence. Devin played in his first golf tournament of the season in Tampa on Monday. It was a great experience and as the title indicates he was "pretty satisfied" with his performance. It was a beautiful course and a very relaxing afternoon. John and Mitchell watched the first nine holes and then we swapped out positions and I watched the second nine with "grandma". John took the little ones to lunch and home for naptime. All in all it was a great day and John and I were thrilled to both be a part of his tournament. We are looking forward to next month. Devin has set new goals as to what he would like to shoot. So stay tuned!!

Birthday, Birthday, and more Birthday

Hello to everybody that reads and views this! This was birthday weekend for us. My sweet Devin turned 12! I can hardly believe it. Time is traveling way too fast. I wish I could just bottle this time but I will just enjoy every moment since this is not an option. Devin's actual birthday was Friday. We did away with big parties a few years ago and now spend the day as a family doing whatever the birthday person desires. We have found this to be more memorable for our family and alot of fun. The choices made about food are what I always find most interesting. Devin chose to have doughnuts for breakfast (see what I mean) and then he went golfing with John. Tennis was the next item on the menu but rain prevailed so on to plan B....tennis on the Wii!! After this, Devin selected Arigatos as the dinner plan. We met grandma and grandpa at the restaurant, they then took Devin birthday shopping and out for ice cream....what a full day!!! (this was Friday)

Today, being Sunday, we celebrated Devin and Grandma's birthday with the whole family. We were lucky to have Aunt Joy in from Portland to help us celebrate. It was a great day celebrating and hanging out at the pool.
